Toledo Man Stabbed, Suspect in Custody
A 22-year-old man remains in critical condition following a stabbing in San Antonio Village, Toledo, on Monday afternoon. Police said they were called to the Isabel Palma Polyclinic around 4:00 p.m., where they found Gregory Makin of San Pedro Columbia Village with multiple knife wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate Makin was attacked near the village quarry by a male known to him. He was initially treated at the polyclinic before being transferred to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan.
Police have one suspect in custody, though the motive for the attack remains unclear.
Gregory’s father, Jim Makin, described the emotional ordeal of discovering his son wounded. “So I pick him up, and he had a lot of stab wounds on his body; he has on his side and his chest, on his back, and on his hand,” Jim said. “He’s stabbed; there’s a hole in his right lung, and part of the spinal cord is cut. The abdomen is cut as well, okay. He’s in a critical condition right now.”
According to Jim, there was no dispute or robbery involved. “All of a sudden he just came and did it. I asked the question, ‘Why me?’ But here I am suffering from all this thing that happened to my son.”
