Darlon Usher Wins KTV Remix, Overcomes Adversity

After weeks of high-energy performances and fierce competition, the stage lit up one final time at the Bliss Centre in Belize City, and it was Darlon Usher who stole the spotlight. Outshining eleven other talented contestants, Usher walked away as the champion of KTV The Remix Season Seven, along with a cool ten-thousand-dollar grand prize. The crowd was electric as fans cheered on the top three finalists: Darlon Usher, Maureen Budram, and Samuel Carcamo. What a night.

“It’s a surreal feeling for sure. You know, standing on stage and hearing my name called in that moment, it was a very surreal moment for me. It’s very overwhelming, and I don’t think I’ve still fully grasped it as yet, but I’ve just been enjoying it so far, yeah.”

Twenty-four-year-old Darlon Usher is this season’s winner of KTV The Remix and walks away with ten thousand dollars to advance his rising music career. Usher has been singing for over thirteen years, and pursuing music always felt natural for him, but his journey wasn’t without its challenges. Darlon Usher’s journey to the top of KTV The Remix is a story of resilience. Coming from a struggling family, Usher spent years in an orphanage and endured abuse from an adopted family for seven long years. But today, with a loving support system behind him, he’s not just chasing his dreams, he’s ready to make waves in the music industry.

“It’s definitely given me a bit more of an insight into what the music industry in Belize looks like in the sense of actually understanding certain dynamics and how people can be, I guess, or how they interpret your music, you know. Alternatively, I also have gained a lot of, I guess, a fan base. And so that’s been really cool to navigate as well.”

 

This season, Usher amassed a large fanbase due to his strong vocal and entertaining stage presence. He draws the most inspiration from Michael Jackson due to his ability to go above and beyond to deliver a perfect performance.  With his winnings, Usher plans to support his dreams financially by investing in other entrepreneurial endeavors. While music may be his passion, the industry isn’t easy to break into. For the past seven years, he’s been teasing the release of his own music, but now, he’s ready to take that step.

“I’ve been like teasing my music for the past like seven years, and then I just never release it. But I can definitely promise them that in the coming months, and definitely from there onward, I will be releasing music. And you’ll be hearing a lot more of me in live performances as well.”

 

The path to victory was not without its bumps in the road. Each week required mental preparation and the will to not buckle under pressure. Usher thanks all devoted supporters for the motivation to keep singing.
