Opposition Presses Briceño on $250M MCC Deal

So what’s really in this deal, and what strings might be attached? That’s the question Opposition Senator Patrick Faber is pressing tonight. He’s calling on the Briceño administration to come clean about the details, and he raised those concerns at today’s U.D.P. press conference. Here’s more.

“And so we call on the government, if it is not so, then tell us what is happening in this agreement? What are the details? What is being promised to the United States? What is being exchanged? By the way, I told you about Majid Khan and I suggested from that time in the house that what was at stake then was that they were given permission to go to Venezuela and negotiate with Mr. Maduro the discount in the loan situation that Belize had with Venezuela and so said, so done. It came to light, in fact that was the case. They are making these sweetheart deals in the name of the Belizean people, it is not in our best interest and we must put Belize first. We call on the government to quit the silence game and to give us full disclosure.”
