Two Men Remanded for Attempted Murder of Security Guard
A domestic dispute in Belize City has left one man fighting for his life. 35-year-old security officer Alfredo Murillo of St James Street is in a critical condition after he was brutally beaten on Baymen Avenue on Thursday, September 4.
Police reported that the incident occurred shortly after midnight, during which Murillo got into an argument with his girlfriend. The confrontation escalated when two men got involved.
Murillo was struck in the head during the attack and had to be rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He is now in an induced coma.
The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Zephaniah Chaplin and 20-year-old Jermie Valencia. Both men were arraigned in court on Monday on charges of attempted murder.
Chaplin and Valencia were unrepresented and denied bail, and both have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 8.
