“First of all I want to say I am proud, and we should all be proud of living in a democratic country where each person has a right to voice their concern without any worry that anyone would be coming after them. So as such with this referendum, those that took the initiative and felt as if they wanted something to happen took the initiative and followed the rules and garnered enough voters in the village to do the referendum. As to whether I am for it or against it, I would like to leave it and not say if to vote for it or go against it. At the end of the day, I will respect the will of the people. This can be also, the issue of the legalization is across the country and the region. I am keenly watching and we can use an example, the sentiments of the entire country based on this. So all eyes will be watching Caye Caulker.”

“Some of your parliamentary colleagues says a village should not make a determination on a national issue.”
Andre Perez
“By all accounts I agree, but we follow the constitution and they have all rights. If we need to make amendments in the future we can to pass some kind of amendment, because it is costing money and it is going to cost a couple hundred thousand and it is tax payers money.”
