Still No Update on MOHW Investigation in Baby Kaleel’s Death
Last week, the Ministry of Health and Wellness said it would launch an investigation to determine what exactly transpired. A week later there are no updates to that investigation. News Five spoke with a relative of the child who confirmed that an autopsy has been concluded, and further tests are being conducted. They still await the findings of the autopsy. In the meantime, we asked Perez if he has received any update on the investigation.

“Not as such. I wait for the report but what I did was to comfort the family as best as possible.”
Paul Lopez
“People said that this never should have happened, that the mother should have been sent on a boat. Is that your view?”
Andre Perez
“I agree, that should not have occurred. We go back to where we are with the hospital and to mention that while it was said that no work is being done, I want to shoot that down immediately. It just so happened that when somebody went to do the footage there it was the day for the quincena, the workers work by weekly, even through the weekend and then they go because they live in other district. That day they left for the weekend. That is four days, the leave on Thursday and come back Monday to work. You are more than welcome to tour the facility because by the next week the second floor will be cast and it is very much in place. Everything is going according to the dates set and I spoke to the contractor and we are on target for next year December.”
Paul Lopez
“And people are asking about how well equipped it will be.”
Andre Perez
“The funding calls for proper equipment. I don’t want to say like a CT Scan, because those are hundreds of thousand of dollars in value, but certainly at a level where you have hope and you live in San Pedro and know where to go to and be attended.”
