Foreign Affairs Minister Francis Fonseca hit back, saying CABEI has been a solid development partner for Belize. Prime Minister John Briceño didn’t hold back either, calling out Tracy Panton and insisting she has no authority to talk about national debt in the House.

“This motion is one that under any circumstance should enjoy the full support of the National Assembly. Sometimes I really think the Belizean people are sick and tired of an opposition that objects for the purpose of objecting, absolute so substance behind the objection. They just want to be a negative voice in the face of something that is entirely based on the national objectives of this country. CABEI has proven itself to be a strong development partner of Belize, over the last five years, in particular.”

“When I hear the Leader of the Opposition come and pontificate in the house I have to have great restraint after her, because the minute you do she comes and stand and say she is a woman. So, we should not criticize her. Do your homework. What kind of moral authority you have to speak about bad spending people money. Where were you when they bad spend the Petro Caribe money pan tacos? Where were you, madam Leader of the Opposition? Did you ever open your mouth and call out your government because they bad spend this money? Exactly, she mih the spend.”
