This evening at 5 p.m., the family of little Kaleel Nah will lead a walk of love and remembrance in San Pedro. Relatives and friends are inviting everyone to gather at Corona Del Mar beach, walk through Seagrape Drive, and return to the shore, which was Kaleel’s favorite place, according to the family.

Participants are asked to wear white as a symbol of peace and remembrance.

It has been one week since the two-year-old was laid to rest. He passed away on September 3 while being transported to Belize City for further medical attention.

According to Dr Jorge Polanco, Director of Hospital Services and Allied Health, confirmed to News 5 that Kaleel’s autopsy found the cause of death to be an acute respiratory failure caused by influenza A (H1N1).

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has now referred the case to the Medical Council of Belize to assess whether negligence occurred. Medical personnel that were involved in the care of the infant may face possible repercussions, including suspension, termination, or loss of medical licences, if negligence is determined.
