Coach Claims Passport Held, Deported After Wagiya Stint

And it wasn’t just Devien Bell sounding the alarm. News Five also spoke with Guatemalan coach Kevin Simpson, who shared a similar story. Simpson says he came to Belize to help sharpen the skills of Wagiya’s players, but instead, he found himself caught in a troubling situation. He claims that Moss also held onto his passport between July and August. And now, instead of coaching on the pitch, Simpson is back home, unemployed and deported.

“This was the agreement: He asked me for it because he was going to be responsible for the work Visa. During the time I was there up until 2 to 2 and a half months, he had fooled us, telling us that he had working on the work Visa including, and you know as a foreigner we have to be making sure that the passport is signed every month, and he was not doing that. The immigration warned me about a lot of things that were happening with him. They told me that I was illegal in the country because I was working and because I did not have a work visa and that I could have been arrested for working illegally. The man from immigration told me to get back my passport from him and resolve my issue and leave the country. I always use to tell me that I need my passport because since I have relatives in Cayo, I needed to go to the Cayo but he said he could not give me it because he was resolving the situation, something that he never did.”

 

American Athlete Devin Bell also alleges that foreign players were not provided with adequate meals and that Moss did not respond favorably to multiple requests for their travel documents. Coach Simpson also asserts that Moss forged his signature on an initial contract. We will be ventilating these claims in tomorrow night’s news cast.
