Agent Says Passport Issues Are Complicated in Football
Regarding the allegations of human trafficking and exploitation, Acting Police Commissioner Bart Jones told News 5 that A-Tips found insufficient evidence to support the claims after interviewing the players. Still, the allegations have raised concerns, particularly as the players say Moss held onto their passports, promising to secure their work visas, a promise that never materialized. While Moss maintains he was only trying to help, the players say he resisted their requests to return the documents. We asked Bruno Guerrero about it.

“The situation with the passport is complicated because we need to understand, football is different across the world. In different countries, not only in Belize, the owners for the team take the passport for the players because they play within different countries. Maybe you go to play to Guatemala and then Mexico, so it is easier when the owner has the passport to do the work to get the ticket for travel. Sometimes the player does not give all the information and the team needs the passport and when you finish your contract the team gives it. This happens not only in Belize but in other country. This happened when I play, not only in Belize. In the beginning I know the owner has the passport because he is working on that. We work together for being better teams and for this opportunity. I think it was bad communication here. Before you touch something you need to ask what is going on. What is happening? When you are younger you think about what your mind say, not your heart and when you are old you try to understand everything. My players, it is bad for the process for being illegal, but it is not exactly with the owner or the team, it is everything.”
