BTIA Celebrates 40 Years of Tourism Leadership

Forty years of growth and resilience in Belize’s tourism sector were marked today as the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) hosted its Annual General Meeting and prepared for a gala celebration honouring past presidents.

BTIA President Efren Perez said the milestone is about recognising those who built the foundation of the industry. “Each one of them has contributed towards the growth of the industry,” he said.

Perez pointed out the changes he has witnessed over the last two decades, stating, “I have seen tremendous growth. When we look at the airlift connections, also, we’ve made a lot of progress. The hotel infrastructure across our key destinations… there is enormous growth, and I think that there will be a lot more going forward.”

Perez added the BTIA is looking forward to new opportunities in the region while keeping sustainable growth as its focus.
