Five people were shot on Saturday night during a brazen gun attack on East Canal in Belize City.

Police say the victims are in a stable condition.

According to a police investigation, officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire. The victims, identified as 43-year-old Errol Tillett, 30-year-old Lincoln Patterson, 26-year-old Sean Reneau, and a minor, were taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds.

A fifth person, 20-year-old warehouse attendant Maximiliano Jones, later arrived at the hospital with injuries. He remains under police guard at the KHMH.

Police reported that a silver van without a licence plate pulled up at the corner of East Canal and Dean Street. Two armed men exited and opened fire on a group of people gathered near a white van. The gunmen then fled in the van along Dean Street.

17 expended 9mm shells and blood swabs were recovered from the scene. Surveillance footage was also obtained by police.
