Belize’s national Pok-ta-Pok teams have once again made history on the international stage, returning with gold, silver, and bronze medals from the 6th Pok-ta-Pok World Cup, held in Copán Ruinas, Honduras.

The men’s team K’iinich Ahau emerged as champions after a decisive 56–25 victory over Mexico in the finals, securing Belize’s fourth men’s World Cup gold out of six tournaments to date. Their female counterparts, also representing K’iinich Ahau, delivered a strong performance, claiming silver in the women’s category. Meanwhile, the men’s team Ek’ Balam added to the medal count with a bronze finish.

All three teams proudly hail from Yo Creek, Orange Walk, a village that has become the heartbeat of Belize’s Pok-ta-Pok legacy.

Special recognition was given to Franz Novelo and Didier Novelo of Ek’ Balam, who have competed in every World Cup since the tournament began a decade ago. Over the years, they’ve captured three championships and three third-place finishes.
