Independent Investigator ordered, Dr. Rosado is Back

Cabinet has announced that an independent investigation will be launched into the kidnapping of Joseph Budna, following the submission of a police inquiry report.

Prime Minister John Briceño received the report today from lead investigator Assistant Commissioner of Police Suzette Anderson. Given the high public interest in the case, Cabinet accepted two key recommendations: that the matter be subjected to an independent probe and that officers involved in the original inquiry refrain from making public statements, to protect the integrity of any potential court proceedings.

The recommendations have been referred to the Attorney General for legal guidance on their implementation.

Cabinet also confirmed that the inquiry report found no evidence implicating Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado. As a result, Cabinet has requested that his leave of absence be lifted and that he immediately resume active duty.
