Sidney Peyrefitte Charged with Murder of Kenneth ‘Big Tom’ Flowers

Police have arrested and charged 50-year-old Sidney Louis Peyrefitte, a Belizean tour guide, with the murder of 47-year-old Kenneth ‘Big Tom’ Flowers.

Flowers was shot and killed on Monday evening in Belize City near the corner of Mopan and Mahogany Street.

Surveillance footage captured the moment a gunman opened fire on the SUV Flowers was driving as he turned onto Mahogany Street. The vehicle sped into Sittee Street, where Flowers collapsed before crashing into a parked SUV. He was rushed to KHMH, but doctors could not save him.

Police believe his death stemmed from a jealous rage.

Flowers’ sister, musician Brithney Manuel, told News 5, “There was not any arguments or anything, so I guessed somebody snapped, you know.” She praised her brother’s efforts to promote peace, saying, “Anybody who knew Big Tom knew that would not play out the way it did. But he was changing, and I am happy for that.”

Acting LIU Director Andrew Dawson described Flowers as “one of the main soldiers on the battlefield. He is in it every day trying to be a voice of reasoning, trying to change the mindsets and speak to their hearts and spirit.”
