Belize City Resident Killed While Riding Bicycle

A tragic accident in Belize City has claimed the life of a man known to many in the Lake Independence community. Forty-five-year-old Chester Noralez was riding his bicycle along Mahogany Street on Wednesday night when he was fatally struck.

Noralez, a familiar face on the streets and no stranger to law enforcement, had a long and complicated history. His name first made headlines back in January 2005, when he and another individual were shot on Amara Avenue. A decade later, in 2015, he was arrested in connection with a brutal home invasion that left a ninety-three-year-old man, Patrick Grant, badly beaten. That case, however, never made it to trial; police were unable to locate the case file, and the charges were eventually dropped.

Now, police are once again investigating, but this time, it’s the circumstances surrounding Noralez’s death that are under scrutiny.
