The Mysterious Murder of a Cayo Man

Police are investigating the death of 42-year-old Shawn Hertular, who was found with head injuries in Santa Elena, Cayo, early Sunday morning, October 12.

Police say the incident was reported around 3:30 a.m. Hertular was taken to the San Ignacio Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith said, “A postmortem examination has since been conducted on the body of Hertular, which revealed that he died from a gunshot wound. The investigators have identified a person of interest who is being sought in connection with this ongoing homicide investigation.”

Police have classified the case as a “death investigation.”
