KHMH CEO to Step Down, Leadership Search Begins

A major leadership change is coming to the country’s largest hospital. Chandra Nisbet-Cansino, who’s led the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital since 2021, won’t be renewing her contract when it expires in the months ahead. That means the top seat at KHMH will soon be vacant and the search for new leadership is on. Now, while Health Minister Kevin Bernard isn’t directly involved in board decisions, the Ministry of Health does have representation through CEO Julio Sabido. So, we asked the minister about what’s next for the hospital and how this leadership shake-up could impact healthcare moving forward.

“I understand that the board has met already and they are working on the terms of reference that will be put out for advertising. I know I spoke with my CEO who also sits on the board of KHMH, I don’t engage with board matters. As you know, that’s not my prerogative, but the board has already met and they are working on the terms of reference and that will be put out, hoping that we could get these advertisements as quick as possible so we could find a suitable person to replace Ms. Cansino who has chosen to move on. And I want to wish her the very best in whatever endeavors she so chooses to go into. I know she has other roles within the different organizations. She has made a personal decision to move on and I wish her the very best.”
