Fight to Fatal Home Invasion?

New information is emerging following the home invasion that left 35-year-old Delecia Flowers dead and her teenage daughter injured.

The incident happened this morning on Complex Avenue in Belize City. Police say an intruder broke into their home around 3:00 a.m., attacking Flowers and her daughter. Officers found the teen with head injuries and Flowers unconscious. Both were rushed to the KHMH, where Flowers died at 4:48 a.m.

News Five spoke to several residents of the area who shed light on a confrontation that may have preceded the attack.

Residents say that just before 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, Flowers’ teenage son was involved in a heated argument with a group of approximately six young men. The dispute reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Flowers’ daughter intervened in defence of her brother and allegedly struck one of the individuals.

According to witnesses, the group left the area after the confrontation, but not before making verbal threats toward the siblings.

The police department is expected to brief the media on this latest murder this afternoon. We’ll have updates then.
