Cane Farmer Shot in Orange Walk

A cane farmer was shot in San Estevan Village, Orange Walk. It happened yesterday morning and the victim has been identified as 36-year-old Abraham Chan.

According to police, around 7:00 a.m. Chan and several co-workers were planting cane when the sound of gunshots rang out, sending everyone fleeing. Chan later discovered he had been hit and was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say, one of Chan’s colleagues saw a man armed with a gun running through the cane field before disappearing. 

Police are investigating.
