Will Ladyville and Lord’s Bank Become One Town?

Big changes are on the horizon for residents of Ladyville and Lord’s Bank Village. Today, it was confirmed that the members of both village councils have planned a meeting to discuss the possibility of combining both communities into one town. It’s a move that has been discussed for decades but has never made any progress. Not only would it shake up the political scene with voters having to re-register, but it also opens the doors for an increase in land tax. As of now, the idea remains in its preliminary phase with village councilors meeting with area representative, Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, on Wednesday to discuss what the possible implications of the change would be. We spoke with Lord’s Bank Village Chairman, Daniel Salinas, who expressed his optimism for the upcoming meeting.

On the Phone: Daniel Salinas, Chairman, Lord’s Bank Village

“My  feeling is that I think it’s something great and should have been done long time because once we combine with Ladyville to become a town, then we will see way more development that is happening now. We won’t have to depend on central government for everything. We will have our own funds so we can do our own development in the community, in both communities.”

“And why do you think there’s been such a delay with the progress then? Has people been advocating for it in the past or is it just that the idea was never proposed?”

Daniel Salinas

“No, the idea was proposed, I think under the previous administration as well, if I’m not mistaken. But I guess it wasn’t just, it wasn’t it wasn’t like a more important issue than it is? No, because if you have, if you notice Ladyville is developing so quickly with all the big businesses coming this side, and then there one is the residential part of this soon to be tongue, so I guess that’s why I know they’re making it they’re making it a priority now to, to, so turn it into at home.”

“Has there been any discussions with the Village Council in regards to this?”

Daniel Salinas

“I did bring it to my council members. I think the past council members, it was up for discussion, but something now that we’re supposed to meet tomorrow to discuss this. Hopefully it comes, it pulls through, you will have some people going against it, but in regards to like the raising of property taxes, but then we have to, with progress comes problem, but we have a look past the problem for a future development.”
