Revised OSH Bill Nears Final Stage
The long-awaited Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Bill is now in its final stages, following extensive consultations and revisions led by the Ministry of Labour and the Attorney General’s Ministry.
Valentino Shal, CEO in the Ministry of Labour, confirmed that the bill has returned to the House Committee after being strengthened through feedback from a wide range of stakeholders. “The feedback they gave us helped us to clarify many things and also strengthen the law to ensure that their interests are being addressed,” Shal said.
The OSH Bill, which aims to improve workplace safety standards across Belize, was previously tabled in the House for review. Shal said the revised version will be presented to the House once the next meeting is scheduled.
“It’s in its final stages,” he added, thanking stakeholders for their input and support throughout the process.
