Four Belizean Resorts Awarded Prestigious Michelin Keys
Belize’s luxury resorts are turning heads on the global stage once again. Some of the country’s top destinations have just earned the prestigious Michelin Keys, think of it as the hotel world’s version of the Michelin Star. The 2025 list was recently unveiled, spotlighting the most exceptional stays around the globe. And Belize is proudly on that list. Gaia River Lodge leads the pack with two Michelin Keys, while Copal Tree Lodge, Blancaneaux Lodge, and Thatch Caye each picked up one. That’s no small feat. Reynaldo Malik Jr., President of the Belize Hotel Association, says it’s a proud moment for the country’s tourism industry. Belize continues to shine as a world-class destination, and these awards are proof that our hospitality game is stronger than ever.

“So basically they scour the world for a collection of hotels that they recommend, right? That they’re saying like, listen, this is the best of the best. They rate you in terms of design of the property. They rate you in terms of the quality or service, your contribution to community. I think there’s like five main things that they rate you for when they when they put you in the group. The Michelin guide contains seven thousand hotels around the world right now. And of that seven thousand though only twenty-four hundred are actually a Michelin key recipient. There are actually ten hotels in Belize that made the seven thousand list. And then of those ten hotels, four were actually given a key. One hotel was actually given two keys. The Michelin brand carries an extremely high level of prestige with it. But when you look at this type of recognition, it is not a pay for play type of recognition.”
