Caribbean Calls for Urgent Climate Action at COP 30

In terms of priority outcomes for the region, Doctor Young says the Caribbean needs the global community to do more at a faster rate. He lamented earth’s rapidly rising temperatures and its future effects on Caribbean. Here is what he had to say.

Dr. Colin Young, Executive Director, CCCCC

“CARICOM has always had a number of items that stayed on the agenda. This is the tenth year of the Paris Agreement where the world committed to keeping global temperature below one point five degrees. We are already at about one point three degrees Celsius. So we are getting dangerously close. In fact, last year we temporarily surpassed the one point five degrees. That does not mean the goal of the Paris Agreement has failed. We need the global community to do more faster and that is what we call the ambition, the climate ambition.”
