$18K Missing Funds Lead to Ex-Employee Arrest

Police have arrested and charged 29-year-old Mitzellie Sujellie Cruz for fourteen counts of theft following an investigation into missing company funds.

On July 10, Vicki Andrea Quetzal, the manager of BIOMEDS Limited, reported to police that an internal audit revealed irregularities. 

Investigators found that between May and June 2025, Cruz allegedly misappropriated $18,322.50 BZD collected from various clients. At the time of her arrest, she was no longer employed at BIOMEDS.

The company, formerly Belize Chemicals, has been operational for more than a decade.
