Belize tourism officials met with major European airlines this week to explore ways to improve flight connections, with a focus on the UK, Germany, and France. The meetings addressed updated travel trends, market data, and the growing interest among European travellers in visiting Belize.

The delegation included Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler, CEO Nicole Usher, and BTIA President Efren Perez. Officials said the talks aim to strengthen ties between Belize’s tourism sector and international travel companies while keeping the country visible through marketing and media outreach.

The discussions come amid challenges for Belize’s tourism industry. Earlier this month, U.S. airports faced mass flight cancellations due to air traffic control shortages and the federal government shutdown. Additionally, Belize had an 8.6 per cent drop in overnight tourist arrivals in September.

Perez noted that Belize has been proactive in showcasing its tourism offerings to international tour operators, and he emphasised that despite current setbacks, “There is opportunities that we can look at and definitely to keep focus and not to get discouraged.”
