Duchess of Edinburgh Kicks off Three-Day Visit in Belize

On Sunday, Belize welcomed the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie Rhys-Jones, kicking off her three-day stay in Belize. She officially arrived at the Philip Goldson International Airport on Sunday night, where she is received by Prime Minister John Briceño and Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceño. Her visit, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture and Immigration, is part of a tour to several countries in South and Central America. Today, the duchess visited the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired and the House of Culture, as she plans to engage with initiatives focused on eye health, the empowerment of indigenous women, and the preservation of Belize’s barrier reef. Their discussions also cover strengthening the bilateral ties between Belize and the United Kingdom.
