Social Lounge Denies Police Claim of On-Site Shooting

Police arrested Woodrow Reyes Friday night after gunfire was reported near Social Lounge on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Reyes, reportedly drunk, is facing charges for possession of a firearm while under the influence. Shell casings recovered at the scene will be sent to the forensic lab to determine if his gun was used.

Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith explained the sequence of events: “Police officers attached to the Precinct Four station proceeded to the Social Lounge area following reports of shots fired. A search of a vehicle led to the arrest of Woodrow Reyes for possession of a firearm while under the influence. The recovered shell casings will be submitted for forensic analysis to determine if the firearm found in Reyes’ possession was used.”

In response to media coverage suggesting that the incident occurred at Social Lounge, management of the popular nightlife spot issued a public statement clarifying that no disturbance took place inside their establishment. They stressed that the shooting occurred approximately 150 yards away on the public highway and that their patrons and staff were never at risk.

“No incident occurred at Social Lounge on Friday night,” the statement read. “Our officer on special duty only reported hearing noise from the direction of the highway. Social Lounge remained calm, secure, and fully operational throughout the evening.”
