Residents Warn of Hazardous Lamp Post
Residents of Santa Cruz, Santa Elena in the Cayo District are raising concerns over a dangerously unstable lamp post in their community. Elihu Yacab said residents contacted him about the post, which he reported previously and even highlighted in a live video, but no action has been taken. “The residents are worried, as the lamp post appears unstable and could potentially fall at any moment. Immediate attention is needed to prevent a possible accident,” Yacab stated.
Mayor of San Ignacio/Santa Elena Earl Trapp confirmed that he has reported the matter to the relevant authorities and promised updates.
Community member Stella Armstrong added that the soil around the lamp post has been eroding for the past two years. She warned of the danger to nearby residents, saying, “It can give way anytime soon. The sad part about this situation is that the Santa Cruz Primary School is about 75 yards away and this is one of the main access points to the school.”
Authorities have yet to take visible action to secure the post.
