Dangriga Mother Receives New Home Ahead of Christmas
A Dangriga mother of five is beginning the Christmas season with renewed hope after receiving the keys to her new home through Belize Bank’s ongoing partnership with Hand in Hand Ministries’ Building for Change programme.
The house blessing and official handover took place on Friday, where Belize Bank presented the newly built home to Mirza Ariola. She is the 14th recipient supported through the 14-year collaboration between the bank and the ministry, which focuses on providing safe, stable housing for families facing difficult living conditions.
Ariola expressed her heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in a social media post, stating,”This is what compassion looks like. You guys really put in the work. Words can’t express how thankful I am. May the good lord continue to bless all of you in a very special way, and may your basket never run dry…”
Building for Change, founded in 2002, has constructed more than 500 small wooden homes across Belize. Many of these houses are built with the help of visiting volunteer groups from abroad, while local businesses also sponsor several homes each year, contributing staff and resources to the construction process.
This year, volunteers from Belize Bank’s Dangriga Branch worked alongside Ariola’s family to help complete the home in the weeks leading up to the handing over.
