No Motive Yet for Murder of Marty Thorne

Police have formally arrested and charged 25-year-old Gian Eldred Waight, a construction worker from Bullet Tree Falls Village, Cayo District, in connection with the murder of Marty Ann Thorne.

Thorne, the owner of Rawspa in Bullet Tree Falls, was brutally stabbed to death on November 10th. 

Police said Waight was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation but fled the country. “As a consequence of liaising with Interpol counterparts in Guatemala, Mr. Waight was detained. While seeking to board a plane in Guatemala City that was en route to El Salvador, he was handed over to police, and he has since been charged,” ASP Stacy Smith explained.

Authorities noted that while Waight was familiar with the victim, “no clear motive has been established into this incident.”
