Cloudy Skies and Showers Continue as Cold Front Lingers Near Belize
Belize is experiencing moist and unstable conditions as a cold front remains near the country, bringing clouds, showers, and thunderstorms.
Today, mostly cloudy skies are expected, with a few showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain developing mainly offshore and along coastal areas. The National Meteorological Service reports that tonight and tomorrow morning, the clouds will thicken, with outbreaks of rain and storms spreading over much of the country, particularly along the coast.
The good news is that the North Atlantic Basin is expected to remain quiet for the rest of the 2025 hurricane season, meaning no tropical cyclones are forecast to impact Belize or its coastal waters.
For the weekend, Saturday is expected to bring periods of rain with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly along the coast and in southern areas. Conditions should gradually ease later in the day. By Sunday, skies are expected to be mostly fair, with only light, isolated showers possible.
Meanwhile, the Belize National Hydrological Service has issued a flash flood warning for Region 9, especially along the Belize River at More Tomorrow and downstream communities. River levels along the Sibun River at Freetown Sibun, the Southern Lagoon at Gales Point, and the Temash River at Crique Sarco in Region 11 are at above normal levels.
