Double Murder Suspect, A Cop, Returns to Court
It’s been two months since a shocking double murder rocked Hattieville, and today the man accused of pulling the trigger was back in court. Twenty-five-year-old Orvin Justin Williams, a police officer and the son of a retired cop, made his second appearance before a magistrate in Belize City. He’s charged with killing his ex-mother-in-law, fifty-seven-year-old Paula Belisle, and her twin brother, Paul Esquillano, on September fifteenth. Investigators say the siblings were at a home on Ysaguirre Boulevard when a gunman drove up, walked onto the property, and opened fire before speeding off in a rental vehicle later found in Belize City. Paula died on the way to the KHMH, while her brother was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered five nine-millimeter shells and reviewed surveillance footage, which helped identify Williams as the suspect. He was first detained two weeks after the murders but released when he refused to cooperate. A week later, new evidence led to his re-arrest. Williams has since been charged with two counts of murder. This case has drawn attention because Williams comes from a respected law enforcement family, his father is a retired officer, and his two brothers are serving in the department. His next court date is set for January twelfth, 2026.
