Former Unitedville Chairman’s Remarkable Recovery

While covering Unitedville’s water crisis today, we met what can only be called a walking miracle. Samuel Mendoza, remember that name? Just under a year ago, the then village chairman collapsed and slipped into a coma after a freak accident cleaning the village reservoir. Back then, the National Association of Village Councils asked the entire country to pray for him. Tonight, we can confirm those prayers worked. Samuel is back on his feet and back in his community, not as chairman, but as part of the Ministry of Infrastructure’s work crew, helping rebuild the same village he nearly gave his life for. From a hospital bed to hands-on service, Mendoza’s story is pure resilience. He admits he’s not fully recovered yet but says he’s strong enough to keep giving back.

“Thank God I’m alive I want to say most of all. Im feeling not hundred percent like I used to but I’m feel some sort of eighty, eighty-odd percent.”

“Now tell us about what happened that day.”

Samuel Mendoza

Well that day I get up the morning, I went to clean out the reservoir and while in there I just collapsed. I don’t recall much. I tried to do my best for the village you know. At the time I was the chairman and I tried to do my best for the village and even now I still participate and help out in the village and the water system and anything in the village. I want to say thanks to all of them who had sent me their thoughts and prayers and so forth because mein, weh I went through was nothing easy. So I would like to thank them for the prayers and had me in their thoughts and so forth, thanks.”
