Teen Motorcyclist Faces Charges After Fatal Billy White Crash

San Ignacio police have issued a notice of intended prosecution to a fourteen-year-old boy after a tragic accident in Billy White Village on Saturday evening. The teen was riding a motorcycle when he struck fifty-three-year-old Joel Sandoval Mendoza, a Guatemalan national who was walking along the roadside. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Mendoza did not survive his injuries. Here’s what authorities have confirmed so far.

“Sometime after six o’ clock p.m. Sandoval was on a road in Billy White Village when he was struck by a motorcycle, driven by a fourteen-year-old student off the set village. Paramedics from the Spanish lookout rendered assistance and transported Mendoza to the Western Regional Hospital. However, he succumbed to the injuries that he sustained sometime after two a.m. on seventh December. The minor, who also received some injuries in this incident has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.”
