Panton’s Appeal Sparks Support to Fix UDP Headquarters
Rebuilding for the UDP means more than mending fences, it means money. Tracy Taegar‑Panton says the party is starting from zero and needs help to repair its headquarters. She’s made the appeal, and support is rolling in from Belizeans who say they’re on board with her reform vision.

Tracy Panton, Leader, United Democratic Party
“We have had a number of small and not so small supporters of the party, Belizean at large, who have chipped in, some with as small as fifty dollars to buy lunch, a hundred and seventy to buy cleaning supplies, paint, the kind of hardware we need in terms of toilets and basins, sweat equity. We are doing a comprehensive assessment of what we need and where the party is in terms of its liabilities, we are now in that process. But I want to thank those who have chipped in, the young engineers who said we are here and we want to be involved in our democracy and the rebuilding of a robust opposition. We are starting at ground zero and we will rise from the ashes and we will do what is necessary to put this party back in a solid foundation. You remember the days when people laughed at us, when we had the barbeque and the fundraising, we will do that if we have to, because there is no shame in us working together to rebuild the UDP and put it on a foundation that is solid in terms of its financial resources and its capacity to do the things we say we are going to do in our reform agenda.”
