Man Speaks Out After Being Detained During Robbery Investigation

After a weekend in police custody, a Lord’s Bank resident is speaking out against what he describes as repeated harassment by authorities. Thirty-three-year-old Anthony Dennison says he was detained without explanation during a robbery investigation last week. Dennison says this is not the first time that police have targeted him during a criminal investigation and claims that officers have also issued threats to him and his colleagues during recent detainment. Now free, Dennison is voicing his frustration over the frequency with which he finds himself behind bars, maintaining that he is not involved in the crimes he is questioned for.

“Honestly I really tired of it until lately, I notice da from threats we di get. So I di try speak out because I no wa mek ney just tek my life right so Recently, I gone da station, get lockdown, ney ker mi from station up di road. De no really do mi nothing right but ney ker we and I no know weh kind a intention ney got. Coming nack from deh so, ney got wa office weh wa threaten that before the year done, me or one ah my brethren wa dead. And I no really tek ney threat deh really light. Because unu da officer, unu have all authority, unu could come inna my house, do weh unu want. I no really got no privacy, nothing. I show ney my video camera, I de da shop when the crime happen, my lawyer give it in. When my lawyer give it in and call me back and explain to me. Everything straight you can go home. As I reach home, di man ney come fi me fi di same crime. When ney ker e, ney start question me fi the same crime. When ney start question me, my lawyer crime and da like weh gone on? And then ney she ney just want an interview with me. And Da so ney let me go afta dat and da like yo. Weh di sense I could give you my whereabout and ney still arrest me for it?”
