Bennett Steps In as CEO, Commits to Openness in Budna Investigation
Rear Admiral Elton Bennett steps into his new role as CEO with a critical case front and center, the Joseph Budna abduction investigation. And he isn’t dodging it. Bennett is assuring the public that transparency and accountability will lead the way as the probe, now in the hands of the Director of Public Prosecutions, moves forward.

“Indeed it is the most present issue that we will have to face as a ministry. So yes, I have given some consideration to it, and indeed I am very interested to see how this plays out. I do understand that the media and the public at large deserve information and you deserve accountability from the ministry and from the police department as well. So, I will ensure that within the position of the CEO, that we continue to improve honor, confidence, and that the ministry is able to put itself in a position where we can confidently and accurately keep the public informed with what we are doing. And what I can say now is the investigation is in the hands of the DPP, however, as A CEO I’m very interested to see how that unfolds. I will be communicating with the DPP as it relates to the administrative part of that case and to see where we can support her office in terms of advancing their investigation, if requested by the DPP.”
