San Antonio Village Council Steps Up Security After Armed Robbery
The San Antonio Village Council says security measures are being strengthened after Monday’s daytime armed robbery at Cross Road Grocery Store captured on camera.
The council addressed the incident during a live broadcast on Tuesday night, confirming that police and village leaders are actively involved in the investigation and are “taking this very seriously.”
Village Chairman Aron Tzib described the robbery as unprecedented for the time of day. He said council members worked alongside police to question several people throughout the day and, after “studying the video closely”, concluded the suspect is not a resident of the community.
“We are pretty sure that he is not from the community, but we know he has a link in the community,” Tzib said.
He pointed out that the village only had one police officer on duty at the time of the incident and commended him for “going the extra mile, he’s working extra hours.” He said, “Police officers are doing their job, trying to protect the village… Let the police do their job.”
Tzib announced new safety measures, including the rollout of a neighbourhood watch system, village group chats for real-time alerts, and vehicle patrols using different vehicles each time to protect the patrol system.
“We cannot say that we cannot expect this in the community; the community is growing, and business is growing in the community,” Tzib added. “It’s been a great change, which is good; it’s a great benefit for my people, but now we have to be more cautious.”
Residents and businesses in the village are now urged to install security cameras, close at safe hours, and work closely with police as investigations continue.
