Belize joined 10 other Latin American and Caribbean countries to serve up healthier school meals while inspiring regional innovation in sustainable school feeding. The country shared its experience at the RAES Exhibition of Good Practices in Brasilia, Brazil, on 15 December 2025.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), professional chefs have trained school cooks in Belize to improve menus. This initiative has turned six pilot schools into 78 centres that now reach 15,000 students.

The exhibition brought together 300 professionals from 20 countries to explore solutions that combine nutrition, education, and community participation.

Chile showcased an app that lets families see what meals are served and provide feedback. Paraguay shared a programme that links school meals with environmental awareness, while Saint Lucia and Cuba showed that school gardens teach entrepreneurship and healthy eating.
