Trump Claims Venezuelan Oil, Land, and Assets Are Stolen

The Venezuelan government has issued a series of diplomatic statements condemning what it calls a grave violation of international law following a post by U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

In the post, Trump declared that Venezuela is “completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the history of South America.” He warned that the blockade would grow until Venezuela returns “all of the oil, land, and other assets that they previously stole from us.”

Venezuela released a statement on Wednesday, denouncing the “grotesque threat” made by Trump and accusing the United States of attempting to seize Venezuela’s natural resources through military force.

Trump’s post also named the Maduro government a “foreign terrorist organisation” and announced a “total and complete blockade” of all sanctioned oil tankers entering or leaving Venezuela.

Venezuela has since written to the President of the United Nations Security Council, condemning Trump’s naval blockade and declaring airspace closure, calling both illegal under UN Resolution 3314.
