Robberies Reported in Corozal and Orange Walk Districts
Police are investigating a robbery that took place at Max’s Store in the Altamira Area of Corozal District on Saturday evening. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. when a 19-year-old Belizean cashier was behind the counter assisting customers. Two male suspects entered the store, pointed a firearm at the cashier, and demanded cash. One of the men jumped behind the counter, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and then fled the scene on foot. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
In a separate incident on the same day, police responded to a robbery at Belize Western Gas Co. Ltd., located on the Belize-Corozal Road in Orange Walk District. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., when two male suspects confronted a 20-year-old cashier and a co-worker, brandishing a firearm and demanding money. During the robbery, one of the suspects struck 60-year-old Clemente Rodriguez on the head with the firearm while the other entered the office and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. Rodriguez was transported to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
