Libertad Christmas Tree Vandalised Days After Installation
The Libertad Village Council has condemned the vandalism of the community Christmas tree at the Libertad Sporting Complex, less than a week after it was installed.
In an online statement, the council said, “Dear Libertad Residents, it is with a heavy heart and significant frustration that I am writing this evening. Our beautiful Xmas tree has been senselessly vandalised. I am incredibly displeased to report this, as it is a place we all share and care for. This act doesn’t just damage property; it damages our collective spirit.”
Images shared by the council show that the cables of the Christmas lights were cut. The tree was placed at the sporting complex last Thursday as part of the village’s festive celebrations.
The council had previously warned residents, “It is crucial that all individuals, especially children, are reminded not to play or tamper with it. The items placed here are for the benefit and enjoyment of our community. Help us keep our village safe and beautiful.”
The council said in its latest statement that “despite the setback… We will clean this up and move forward.”
