Bus Crash in Guatemala Leaves 15 Dead, 19 Injured

At least 15 people were killed and 19 others injured when a passenger bus fell into a ravine along the Inter-American Highway in western Guatemala.

The crash occurred near the 174-kilometre mark of the highway, where the bus dropped about 75 metres into a steep valley. The area is a mountainous stretch of road known for heavy fog and poor visibility.

A spokesperson for the local fire department said the victims included eleven men, three women, and one minor. He added that 19 injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene early Saturday morning.
