Police Detain 53-Year-Old Man in Belize City Robbery

A 53-year-old man was arrested early on Christmas morning following a robbery in Belize City.

ASP Stacy Smith reported that at about 1:50 a.m. on December 25, officers attached to the Eagles Motorcycle Patrol team of Precinct Three were on patrol in the Wilson Street area when they heard a woman crying out for help.

“The officers saw the female in a struggle with a male person who then ran off,” Smith said.

The suspect, later identified as Alistair Smith, a 53-year-old deckman of Mayflower Street, was pursued by police and found in possession of the victim’s purse, which contained a small amount of money and personal items.

Robbery charges are expected.
