What began as a routine motorcycle patrol in Belize City quickly turned into a dramatic rescue. Officers were cruising along Wilson Street when they heard a woman’s desperate cries for help. In a split second, they sprang into action, chasing down a fifty-three-year-old suspect and recovering the stolen purse. Tonight, police say quick thinking made all the difference. “Officers attached to the Eagles Motorcycle Patrol team of Precinct three were on patrol in the Wilson Street area when their attention was drawn to a female who was crying out for assistance. The officers saw the female in a struggle with a male person who then ran off. The male person was pursued where he was found in possession of a purse belonging to the female, which contained a small amount of money and some other personal items. That male person, who has since been identified as Alistair Smith, a sixty-one-year-old male person of Belize City has since been detained. And charges in relation to robbery are expected to be preferred against him.”
