Businessman Kris Rosado, returned to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of police officer Arcenio Cus. Rosado’s appearance comes seven weeks after his arraignment for the July 28th, 2025, crash on the Phillip Goldson Highway. This morning, he appeared before the Chief Magistrate, where prosecutors disclosed statements, photographs, and DVDs. The matter is now set for a Preliminary Inquiry on January twenty-seventh. Rosado was first arraigned on November twelfth, 2025, and faces multiple charges, including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failing to stop and render aid, and failing to report an accident. He remains free on bail, with two sureties. Police allege that on July twenty-eighth, 2025, between Miles 5 and 6 on the Philip Goldson Highway, Rosado negligently drove a Honda Ridgeline pickup when it entered the lane of Officer Cus, who was riding a motorcycle, and struck him. Investigators further allege Rosado failed to stop, render assistance, or promptly report the accident. Police say Arcenio Cus was thrown from his motorcycle during the crash, suffering severe head and abdominal injuries. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem later confirmed he died from multiple blunt-force injuries caused by the accident. Investigators later detained Kris Rosado at his Ladyville home, where they found the damaged pickup truck believed to be involved. Police say Rosado declined to answer questions after seeking legal advice from his attorney.
