UDP Says Lee Mark is Mesop’s ONLY Area Rep.

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has issued a strongly worded statement rejecting any suggestion that Jamal “Shyne” Barrow represents the Mesopotamia constituency, insisting that Lee Mark Chang remains the only duly elected area representative.

The UDP said the matter is settled by law following the March 12, 2025 General Elections. Chang was elected the area representative for the constituency.

The UDP warned the public that any posts, statements, or online content claiming someone else represents the party in Mesopotamia are misleading and contrary to the results of the general election. The party specifically stated that Barrow “is not the duly elected Area Representative” and does not hold any elected or appointed position in the National Assembly.

According to the UDP, any attempt by Barrow to present himself as the Mesopotamia Area Representative creates confusion and undermines the authority of the elected official.

We note that Barrow shared a Christmas message on his Facebook page. The message signed off with, “Hon. Dr. Shyne Barrow, Mesopotamia, United Democratic Party.”

The party said it is distancing itself from any statements or actions that challenge Chang’s legitimacy or mislead the public.
