ComPol Rosado: ‘I Am Not Avoiding the Media’
Commissioner of Police Dr Richard Rosado is rejecting claims that he has distanced himself from the media, especially after being seen missing in action at recent events.
Rosado said his focus remains on police operations rather than public appearances.
“I do maintain that I appreciate and I recognise the role that the media play, the responsible and objective media,” Rosado said. “However, my primary duty, I maintain, is my operational duty, hence the reason we have a complete public relations office.”
“I’m open to a frank and open discussion with the media,” he added.
Scrutiny over Rosado’s public visibility has intensified since his return from administrative leave in September, when he was investigated as part of the kidnapping of Joseph Budna. He resumed duties less than a month later after an internal report found no evidence against him.
Meanwhile, Rosado continues to limit his comments on the Budna case. “I will not comment on any ongoing investigation or prejudge any ongoing investigation,” ComPol Rosado repeatedly stated.
He said he maintains “full confidence in the integrity of the investigative process and in the professional capacity of the investigators.”
