ComPol Says New Police Minister shares his Vision for Public Safety

In late 2025, former National and Border Defense Minister Oscar Mira assumed the role of Minister of Home Affairs, succeeding Kareem Musa. Mira took on the ministry at a time of heavy public scrutiny as Belize recorded a spoke of violent crimes across the nation. Today, Commissioner of Police, Dr. Richard, voiced his support for Mira, sharing his excitement to work with him, claiming that the two share an aligned vision for strengthening public security.

“Honestly, I welcome it because our vision. We have similar vision and our ideology align. So I welcome  their addition. They’re coming into our department. I believe they will create that they will challenge our assumption and it’ll allow us to create more innovative policing strategies. So I welcome. I am happy that they’re on board with us.”

“I personally believe that with them coming on board, you will see more innovative, more technology in our crime fighting effort.”
